The connection is made via a power cable that is plugged into a socket on the balcony or in the apartment. The PV module is already connected to the house network. The solar power generated then supplies all devices that are currently in operation.

Save electricity with a mini PV system


When the mini PV system supplies electricity, the electricity meter runs slower. The devices being operated then draw their energy from the PV system and less electricity is required from the grid. If the sunlight is intense enough, the meter will even stop completely while the router, refrigerator, computer and other devices are running. If the PV system produces more electricity than your household uses, the excess energy is transferred to the public power grid.

The assembly of a mini PV system


The modules of a mini PV system can be installed in a wide variety of locations. A roof area is not necessarily required. In order for the mini PV systems to comply with the regulations, the inverter output must not exceed 600 watts. However, there are plans to increase the maximum permissible power to 800 watts. What performance do mini PV systems achieve?


In order to get the optimal performance from mini PV systems, you need a good inverter and the PV modules must be optimally aligned with the sun. The correct location should face south and the modules should have an inclination of around 35 degrees to the ground. Systems with a 600 watt inverter have a maximum output of 750 watts. In order to achieve good electricity yield all year round, you should combine PV systems with a higher nominal output with an inverter that is slightly lower. This means you can produce solar power even in winter and in bad weather.

The prices for mini solar systems


While the prices for mini solar systems have been high in recent years due to delivery bottlenecks, the price level is currently cheaper. Depending on the model, size and performance, systems are available at prices between 400 and 1,000 euros. Delivery times have shortened significantly. In addition, VAT is no longer charged on mini PV systems. The purchase usually pays for itself in less than 10 years.

Anyone who decides on a mini solar system should value high material and manufacturing quality. Check whether the shape and size of the modules match the planned installation location. When purchasing, pay attention to delivery times and shipping costs. Also find out about mounting options and corresponding devices. Most mini PV systems are made up of two modules. Theoretically, others can also be added. Find out what power the system delivers and which inverter you need to operate it. Also ask what manufacturer warranty applies. Caring for the mini solar system
